Déplacer la gare de Calvi ??

M. Ange SANTINI, maire de Calvi, a été interrogé par J.B. Suzzoni, sur divers projets routiers de la ville. Article publié le 12 septembre 2002 dans Corse-Matin.

Voici un extrait de sa réponse :

... JBS : Mais le manque de parkings dont souffre Calvi ne peut se satisfaire de ces seules améliorations ?

 - AS :Ayant engagé une réflexion sur les aménagements de la zone comprise entre la sous-préfecture et la station Total, il est notamment prévu de doubler l'emprise du parking dit de la gare, en déplaçant celle-ci à hauteur du carrefour de l'Abbaye.*

JBS : Vous évoquez le déplacement de la gare, or il s'est toujours heurté à l'opposition des CFC...

 - AS : Le transfert des emprises ferroviaires à la collectivité territoriale de Corse (CTC) est aujourd'hui de nature à faciliter les choses.**

* NB : ceci équivaut à reculer la gare plus loin du Centre, l'Abbaye est un hôtel à l'entrée de Calvi.

** jusque là, le chemin de fer était propriété de l'Etat.

Ceci me paraît tout à fait ahurissant !!! pour au moins 2 raisons.

1) dans toutes les villes qui sont victimes de l'excès d'encombrement automobile, (comme l'est Calvi en été), on répond à ce problème en développant les transports en commun en site propre.

Repousser le chemin de fer plus loin du centre ville est aberrant, on devrait au contraire construire des parkings plus loin du centre ville, et augmenter la fréquence des trains, et peut-être même créer des trains le soir en été. Un grand parking autour de la gare de Calenzana-Lumio ne serait pas une meilleure idée ??

Et comment feront les voyageurs qui débarquent au port, sans voiture pour aller à la gare. Elle est déjà bien assez loin !

2) on a agrandi la gare en 1999, à grands frais je pense. Ce nouveau bâtiment est d'ailleurs un très beau travail. On détruirait cette construction neuve, de qui se moque-t-on ? (du contribuable certainement).

Je crois que le chef de gare de Calvi est aussi adjoint au maire, quelle est son opinion sur ce point ?

Move the Calvi station ??

Mr Ange SANTINI, mayor of Calvi, was interviewed by JB Suzzoni, of Corse-Matin (Corsica-Morning) newspaper (issue of 12th September 2002), about some road projects in the city.

Below an extract of his reply :

... JBS : but the lack of car-parks in Calvi cannot be resolved only by these improvements ?

- AS : We started a thought about the arrangements to do in the area situated between the sub-prefecture and Total service-station, it is particularly plan to double the surface of the car-park by the railway station, by moving the station far to the Abbaye cross-roads. *

JBS : You evoke the moving of the station, but Corsican railway company disagree always with that...

- AS : The ownership transfer of railway yards to the CTC (local authorities in Corsica) will facilitate this things.**

* NB : this will end to move the station farther of the city centre, l'Abbaye is an hostel at Calvi entrance.

** Formerly the railway owner was the French State.

This seems to me very bewildering !!! for at least two reasons.

1) in all cities where cars jam all streets (like Calvi in summer), authorities try to answer at this problem by developing public transport in exclusive right of way.

Put away the railways, far from the city centre is aberrant, in opposite it would be built park places far away of the city centre, and increase the frequency of trains, and perhaps make them running in evening in summer. An important park place around Calenzana-Lumio station would not be a better idea ?

And how will do the passengers coming down the ships in harbour, without car, to go to the station. It is already so far enough !

2) the station building was enlarged in 1999, this was expansive I think. This new construction is a very good realization. One would destroy this new building, is it a joke ? ( to the taxpayer ? ).

 I think that the Calvi station chief is also deputy-major, what is his opinion about this question ?
