Page

Diesel locomotives On Corsican network ran a few little shunters, used for shunting in stations. And route locomotives. Shunters The n° 403 : after the fire of the railcar Billiard 103 in 1946, this shunter was made by retrieval of the driving bogie, with the diesel engine. It was affected in Ajaccio, and was withdrawn from the service in 1962. The n° 1: construction CFD in 1948, used in Doubs, then Tarn, sent in Corsica in 1966. Preserved on the touristic railroad MTVS of Valmondois. The n° 2: realized in 1950 by the workshops of the Railways of Dauphiné, arrived to Corsica in 1966. The n° 3: built in 1951 for the Seine and Marne CFD network, come to Corsica in 1967. Sometines, it ran on light goods trains on Balagne line. All are withdrawn from service. Locomotives Locomotive 114
: the railcar Billard 114 was destroyed during the war.
With its bogies and a 150 HP Renault motor, the Bastia workshops
built this machine in 1955 which ensured the freight service on
Bastia-Calvi. This machine is in wreck situation, during a
longtime at Casamozza, and at Bastia in 2016. It ran until the
beginning of the Nineties. With a risky reliability. Locomotives
401 to 403 : built in 1951 by Brissonneau et Lotz,
in a joint order with the Dauphiné and Provence networks.
Power 600 HP. Type BB, with 2 300 HP Renault motors and
electric drive. The 401 and 402 arrived directly to Corsica. The
403 arrived from Provence in 1963, at the moment when the 401 was
destroyed by a fire. They ran on the central line, and never
went in Calvi, too heavy for the light tracks of Balagne at the
time. Locomotives
404
and 405 : construction
CFD, central cabin, power 414 HP in 2 engines, hydraulic transmission
Asynchro, and bogie with coupling rods. Locomotive BB 406 : built by CFD for Speno in 1973, arrived to Corsica in 1994. It was parked without use in Bastia for a long time because of the impossibility to used it with the old wagons (difference in the braking system). It as a power of 660 HP. Locomotive BB 407 : second hand loco refurbished by the Belgian company Rails et Tractions. It had technical problems and did not run really the first years, since 2017 it can be used really. A similar loco BB 408 was delivered in 2015. The bankrupcy of Rails et Traction delayed the delivery. Il is used for service trains. Page updated
